All School Age Children & Teens
Even if there are no risk factors or family history of eye problems, children need their vision checked at 6 months, 3 years, and before starting first grade.
Make an appointment if your child exhibits any of the following issues
- Read slowly
- Struggles with reading
- Poor reading comprehension
- Complains about headaches
- Grows tired or frustrated with reading
- Can't sit still or stay at a task for any length of time
- Reverses words, numbers, or letters
- Difficulty remembering the spelling of words
- Difficulty copying from a chalkboard or textbook
- Frequently loses their place, skips words, or lines of text while reading
- They are performing below expected levels in school
- Complains about itchy, burning or watery eyes
- Move their head back and forth instead of just their eyes while reading
- Have problems with coordination in sports
- Shows no improvement from medication or tutoring
