Even if there are no risk factors or family history of eye problems, children need their vision checked at 6 months, 3 years, and before starting first grade.
Make an appointment if your child exhibits any of the following issues

  • Read slowly
  • Struggles with reading

  • Grows tired or frustrated with reading
  • Can't sit still or stay at a task for any length of time
  • Reverses words, numbers, or letters

  • They are performing below expected levels in school

  • Correcting visual acuity
    Correcting visual acuity is the first and quickest step for most people but, some athletes are unaware that they suffer from an undetected refractive error. Refractive errors are any number of different size and shape abnormalities that affect the eye’s ability to focus light on the retina, affecting vision.
  • Contrast sensitivity is very important for athletic performance
    Low contrast sensitivity, especially in low light conditions, make it difficult to track objects

Common Vision Issues & Vision Changes that may occur over time

As we all get older, our eyes keep changing and so does our vision. Here are just some common age related vision changes that you may notice as we age

  • Why are my eyes dry
    Sometimes, this canbe cause by your tear-flow, your heater, your air conditioner, or other things in your environment. Some other causes include: Aging, especially menopause Certain drugs like antihistamines have side effects that can causedry eyes Some Diseases affect your ability to create tears, like Sjogren's syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, and collagen vascular diseases
  • Visual Stress
    Staring long hours at a computer screen, cell phone or working in poor light will cause visual stress. There are simple things we can suggest to give you relief.
  • You Require or Need More Light
    If you find that you need more light. Be sure work and reading areas are well lit so you can read comfortably and do close work.
  • Presbyopia ( this happens to all of us )
    The Eye’s ability to focus on items at close distance becomes more difficult. You’ll find yourself removing your glasses to see better up close. If you don’t wear glasses, you’ll hold reading material further away.
  • Changes in Color Perception
    If the normally clear lens located inside your eye starts to discolor, it will be harder to see and distinguish between certain color shades.
